Cayo Zapatilla

Bienvenidos a Cayo Zapatilla, sin duda, uno de los mayores atractivos de Bocas del Toro

Lo cierto es que antes de comenzar a mostrar esta joya del Caribe es conveniente indicar que realmente hay dos Cayos Zapatilla, uno frente al otro, ya llegando a mar abierto. Dicen que deben su nombre a la forma que desde el aire parece conformar: la de un zapato. 

Lo curioso es que la vegetación que aflora en cada cayo es diferente, en una abundan las palmeras y en otra árboles y arbustos. No obstante. cuentan con las playas de arena blanca como punto en común; unas playas bañadas por un agua transparente a la orilla y que va tomando colores verdes, turquesas hasta llegar a los azulados.

Ya en tierra, encontrarán un sendero señalizado por el Bosque Detrás del Arrecife. A la entrada al cayo la ANAM les cobrará 4$ por ser residentes en Panamá, y en caso de turistas 10$. También hay posibilidad de acampar en la isla.  

Lo que les garantizo, es que la visita, el paseo y el baño en Cayo Zapatilla merece, y mucho, la pena :)

Welcome to Zapatilla Cay, undoubtedly one of the greatest attractions of Bocas del Toro

The truth is that before starting to display this jewel of the Caribbean is appropriate to indicate that there are actually two Zapatillas Cays, facing each other, and reaching out to sea. They say their name is because of the way it looks from the air: that of a slipper.

The funny thing is that the vegetation that flourishes in each cay is different, in one you can admire an abundance of palms and other trees and shrubs. Yet. have white sand beaches as common point; beaches lapped by clear water to the shore and that is taking green colors, down to the turquoise blue.

Once on the shore, you find a path marked by the Forest Behind the Reef. At the entrance to the cay where ANAM charged $ 4 for being resident in Panama, and to tourists $ 10. There are also camping facilities on the island.

What I can guarantee is that the visit, ride and swim in Cayo Slipper deserves, and far off :)
