Hoguera de San Juan en Panamá

Buenos días a todos, 

Este pasado sábado celebramos un grupo de amigos la festividad de San Juan, y por supuesto, no faltó la hoguera. La famosa Noche de San Juan es una festividad vinculada con las celebraciones de la llegada del solsticio de verano, la noche más corta del año. El rito principal de esta festividad no es otro que que el de encender una hoguera. 

Esta iniciativa de unos buenos amigos nuestros resultó ser una buena forma de traer nuestras tradiciones a Panamá. Todo resultó un éxito de convocatoria y celebración. Gracias!

Curiosamente, investigando sobre la festividad de San Juan en distintos puntos del mundo, me encuentro con que en Panamá también se celebra. San Juan Bautista es el santo patrono de las ciudades de Chitré y Aguadulce, en Panamá, y por ello, el 24 de junio es el día central de la fiesta del pueblo, donde se celebran tanto actos religiosos como paganos de toda índole, con procesiones, bailes, o cabalgatas. 

Con algunas fotos recopilatorias del gran evento, incluidos los tradicionales saltos a la hoguera por los más valientes, me despido hasta nuevo aviso esta semana.

Good morning everyone,

This past Saturday a group of friends celebrated the feast of San Juan, and of course, we didn´t miss the bonfire. The famous San Juan´s Eve is a holiday associated with the celebrations of the arrival of the summer solstice, the shortest night of the year. The main ritual of this festival is none other than  do a  fire.

This initiative of good friends of ours turned out to be a good way to bring our traditions to Panama. Everything was a success called and held. Thank you!

Interestingly, research on the feast of San Juan in different parts of the world, I find that in Panama also celebrated. St. John the Baptist is the patron of the city of Chitré and Aguadulce, in Panama, and therefore, the June 24 is the main day of the celebration of the town, which hosts both religious and pagan acts of all kinds, with processions , dancing, or horseback riding.

With some pictures compiling the big event, including the traditional jumps to the stake for the bravest, I say goodbye until further notice this week.
