Excursión a los Emberá

Feliz Martes a todos, espero que estéis bien

Recientemente estuve de excursión en la región de Chagres, conociendo uno de los hogares de las cinco comunidades indígenas de Panamá. Concretamente visitamos a la comunidad emberá, que si bien su origen es de la provincia de Darién, en el Parque Nacional del Chagres dos de las comunidades emberá hallaron una excelente ubicación para vivir y asentarse. 

Llegando en apenas una hora desde Ciudad de Panamá, cambiamos del panorama de la urbe a la exuberante naturaleza que rodea el lago Alajuela, un buen lugar por cierto para practicar la pesca. En la orilla nos esperaban las barcas improvisadas por los propios indígenas, unos excelentes artesanos que tomando los troncos de los árboles dieron forma a las que son ahora las barcas que nos llevan a su hogar. Eso sí, barcas motorizadas, que incorporaron a éstas unos motores fueraborda para recorrer en menos tiempo las aguas, en algunos tramos bravas, del río Chagres.

Los barcos cruzan el lago hacia la comunidad emberá de Parará Puru y más al interior llegamos a nuestro destino, la comunidad emberá drua, de la que os hablaré en los próximos posts.

Happy Tuesday, I hope you are well

Recently I did a trip to the Chagres' region, meeting one of the homes of the five native regions in Panama. Specifically we visited the emberá community, that although their origin is from the province of Darien, in the National Park of Chagres two of the emberá communities found an excellent location to live. 

Arriving in less than an hour from Panama City, we changed the urban panorama to the lush nature that involves the Alajuela's lake, a nice place by the way to practice fishing. On the shore the improvised boats by the natives themselves, excellent artisans that taking the trunks of the tress shaped which now are boats that carried us to their place. That is, motorized boats, that incorporate to them outboard motors to cover in less time the waters, sometimes brave, of the Chagres.

The boats cross the lake to the emberá community of Parara Puru and more inside the river, the embera drua community, from which I'll talk you later on the blog.
