Feliz comienzo de semana amigos, hoy visitamos la bella Isla Iguana
El Refugio de Vida Silvestre de Isla Iguana comprende una playa de arenas blancas, manglares y bosques tropicales. El refugio fue creado en 1981 para proteger la amplia variedad de especies que alberga. La isla está rodeada por 16 hectáreas de arrecife, con doce especies de coral y 200 de peces. Fue increíble practicar snorkeling en su playa.
Como dato curioso, la isla Iguana fue zona de maniobras militares durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Y de hecho, una bomba detonada en 1990 destruyó más de 800 metros de arrecife, que se recuperaron de manera natural en un período de 8 a 10 años.
Además, la isla es el refugio de la colonia de fragatas (tijeretas) más grande de la costa este de la Península de Azuero, de más de 5.000 individuos. Otras 23 especies de aves marinas y 12 terrestres se encuentran en la isla o en las aguas marinas adyacentes. La mayor parte de estas son especies migratorias. En una imagen observaréis lo rodeada de fragatas que estaba, impresionaba!

Happy begin of the week friends, today we visit the beautiful Iguana Island
The wildlife Refuge of Iguana Island cover a white sand beach, mangrove swamps and tropical forests. The refuge was created in 1981 to preserve the huge variety of species that house. The island is involved by 16 hectares of reef, twelve coral species and 200 fishes. It was amazing practice snorkeling on the beach.
As curiosity, the Iguana island was military maneuver area during the II World War. And in fact, a bomb detonated in 1990 killed over 8448 square feet of coral reefs. It took an 8 to 10 years to recovered.
Furthermore, the Island is the refuge of the biggest Frigate bird colony of the East coast of the Azuero Peninsula with more than 5.000 individuals. Other 23 species of marine birds and 12 forest species are found on the island or close waters. Most of these are migratory species. In the pic you can see how I was involved by the frigate birds.
